Children In Care Council

Shaping the future of care in Bury

CICC Home page

Introduction

The Children in Care Care Council is made up of children and young people in care, looked after by Bury Local Authority or care leavers that have previously been looked after by Bury.

We meet fortnightly, usually the second and fourth Friday of the month.

The meetings usually involve different craft activities, discussions on relevant topics and issues, but it also give the young people in care an opportunity to have a voice as it helps to get them voices heard.

Any looked after young person or care leaver aged between 11-18 can be involved and have their say.

Each session our young people appoint a chair and a vice chair for the meeting, the two will then be in charge of the session and also take minutes. At the end of the session two new young people are appointed for the position for the next session.
